Cockatrice Fledgling

Cockatrice Fledgling (Active Pet)

Cockatrices are a type of monster created from chooks. A cockatrice is created when an ophidius parasite enters a chooks body.
The transformation does not happen overnight, rather it occurs over the course of a year.

Soon after being infected, the chooks appetite will increase dramatically. The parasite changes the hosts body drastically, so it takes a lot of it's energy to do so.
Over the course of the year, the chook will begin to grow larger, sprout a serpentine tail, and larger dragonlike wings. It's beak and talons become sharper as well.

The transformation is considered "complete" once the cockatrice's wings have fully grown in and it has reached 4 feet in height.
The cockatrice will continue to grow throghout it's lifetime though, as they can reach heights of up to 8 feet tall.

Cockatrices tend to live for up to 50 years. Unlike chooks, they tend to be entirely carnivorous creatures.
They are more often than not hostile creatures, but with the correct care they may maintain their demeanor from when they were chooks.

This little guy in particular is a newly turned Chook. It is still adapting to the changes in it's body.
Although they still have a long way to go in terms of their transformation, they can still be quite dangerous at this size.

They are quite useful creatures, as they are able to do simple tasks without difficulty. Many mages keep several around the house to take care of small household tasks, such as cleaning, doing laundry, or tending plants.

Golems can be any size. Their size depends on the size of the vessel created by the mage creating them. Golems do not need to eat, but they do require a bit of magic to be channeled into them every now and then. The amount of magic needed depends on the size and type of golem. Golems will become inanimate if they go a while without a refill of magic.
